All future Autodesk Vault hotfixes will depend on the above SP's being installed. If logging a Support case, Autodesk will check that these are installed and require that they are installed before continuing any problem investigation.
Hotfixes for each release
Install these only if you are experiencing the issues described in the readme or wish to avoid future issues. If logging a Support case, Autodesk will check what hotfixes are installed and if the issue might be fixed by installing one or all of the later hotfixes. Autodesk will require that they are installed before continuing any problem investigation.
The Autodesk Vault development team are currently adopting the following structure for hotfixes, SP's etc.
Release to Manufacturing (RTM)
Service Pack. (SP)
Update (UD)
Hotfix (HF)
Cumulative Hotfix (CH)
RTM (Release to Manufacturing). This is is the version of the software that is downloaded from Subscription Center.
Service Pack. They include all hotfixes that were released after RTM up until the time they were released. This maintenance release undergoes stringent Quality Assurance (QA) similar to the RTM Version.
Updates, will not require the latest Service be installed, it will migrate files to the highest version automatically. Some QA regression testing performed, but is limited.
Hotfix normally addresses a single issue. QA testing is limited to testing the issues reported. Little regression testing is performed.
Cumulative Hotfixes are targeted to address a specific issue, they are cumulative, so installing the latest CH will apply all the individual Hotfixes released up till that point. QA testing is limited to testing the issues reported. Little regression testing is performed.
The above structure is being adopted for the 2014 release and will be different from previous releases.
